Noticing Practice

Before you start

Noticing discomfort is the opposite of avoiding it.

This isn't meditation, even though it might look like it. A lot of meditation is built around relaxing and getting away from what's uncomfortable. Noticing is different. The job is to move toward whatever's there — your breath, sounds, sensations, thoughts. Sometimes that's comfortable. Often it isn't.

The point isn't to feel better. The point is to stay.

Practice on your own

A guided practice in noticing. The prompts will move on their own — your job is just to sit with what's there.

What you noticed

Take a moment before you move on.

Did you stay with it, or pull away?

Saved. You can come back to this anytime.
